Floorplan Step Up For New fabric Records Mix

The full 60-minute compilation, fabric presents Floorplan, is now available on digital, CD, and vinyl formats.
Two generations of Detroit spirit - as father‑daughter duo Floorplan - have delivered a new mix for fabric Records.

The mix features two original tracks by Floorplan "You're A Shining Star" and "Only God" along with recent and exclusive material from the last few years by a wide range of artists.
Robert Hood, the Detroit techno pioneer behind Floorplan, has had a long history with fabric’s club and record label. Over the years he has played more than 20 sets in fabric’s Room 2 and in 2008 contributed fabric 39 – now widely regarded as a landmark in the club’s mix‑compilation catalogue.
With this new mix, the story comes full circle. This marks the first time Floorplan (as a duo including Robert and his daughter Lyric Hood) appears on the fabric presents series.
fabric presents Floorplan channels a blend of influences: from the minimal‑techno foundations of Detroit to gospel‑inflected vocals, soulful house grooves and contemporary disco/house energy. The mix draws on known names across the underground and club scene – from remix work for indie‑house and techno artists to club‑ready house and peak‑time energy.

Emerging from a musically rich Detroit upbringing steeped in Motown and vinyl culture, Robert Hood became an early member of the seminal ’90s collective Underground Resistance, helping to spearhead the rise of techno. Going solo, Hood created minimal techno with his Minimal Nation LP. Groundbreaking productions, acclaimed performances, and his own M-plant label followed, until in ’96 he formed Floorplan - an alter ego exploring house-orientated production. Immersed in music from an early age, Lyric eventually caught the same electronic spark that’s driven her father for decades. In 2014, after Hood’s debut Floorplan album Paradise, the project evolved as the then-16-year-old Lyric joined him to perform as Floorplan. Two years later, Lyric officially became a full member, and a stack of pulsing house records followed, including The Masters Plan - Floorplan’s fourth album and the third with Lyric.
