Rooftop Rhythms Ignite Miami's Skyline at EDM.com's "Insider Access" MMW Event

RIKIO ROCKS 0 380

Amid a week of synths and sunshine, for the second year in a row EDM.com's "Insider Access" networking event became the opening pitch of Miami Music Week 2024.

As the sunny spring afternoon unfurled, hundreds of guests ascended to the rooftop of the lavish Uma House hotel, greeted by a panoramic view that mirrored the expansive opportunities held by new connections and more.

The air buzzed with anticipation and the kind of energy only found where the industry's brightest gather to foster the future of electronic dance music. Refreshing drinks in-hand courtesy of local distillery Timber Creek, attendees were set for an afternoon that was as much about the savor of the moment as it was about the sizzle of potential.

The cornerstone of "Insider Access" was undoubtedly the interaction between independent artists and some of the most influential record label representatives in the electronic music domain. Giants such as Confession, Heldeep, Dim Mak, Ophelia, Armada, Dirtybird, No Copyright Sounds and Meritocracy lent their ears and expertise, diving into demos and sharing invaluable insights.

The day's soundtrack was masterfully curated, featuring an eclectic mix of artists who are no strangers to stirring crowds into a frenzy. From Rich DietZ's electrifying closing set to the groovy sensibilities of Myles O'Neal, and from Sunday Scaries' infectious energy to Ekonovah, FREAK ON, Fredy Lane, NIIKO X SWAE, No Thanks and more, the lineup was a testament to the diversity and dynamism that defines the dance music scene of 2024.

But beyond the beats and business cards, "Insider Access" was about the creation of meaningful connections. In a scene where a single conversation can spark a career-defining collaboration, guests didn't just party the day away—they forged relationships that promised to shape the contours of the week ahead and beyond.

As we await the next chapter of Miami Music Week's illustrious story, check out a gallery from this year's "Insider Access: Global Networking Event" below. All photos by Kareem King for EDM.com.

We're just days away from the return of Miami Music Week, a weeklong dancegasm when we each turn into a walking heart murmur.

The annual celebration is arguably the nation's best time for electronic dance music enthusiasts, who willingly devolve into a blissful, sleep-deprived haze. For those who have not yet experienced Miami Music Week—it's bedlam. Just ask any one of the bedraggled rave zombies stumbling through the Miami International Airport on Monday: it's survival of the fittest.

Miami has always been beloved for its rich nightlife culture but the hedonism reaches a new level the week leading up to Ultra Music Festival, when the city turns into a down-and-dirty electronic music utopia. Miami's hotels, bars, restaurants and streets transform into clubs, and seemingly every DJ in the nation descends on the metropolis like hawks to a lizard.

And neighbors be damned, it's back. Ahead of Miami Music Week 2024, EDM.com has created a guide with an exhaustive list of club nights, pool parties, raves, record label showcases and more so you can keep a pulse on the pandemonium.

The SoundCloud Era is Back—Here's 10 Electronic ProducersWith DJ Weapons for Days

RIKIO ROCKS 0 397

It's 2012. RL Grime, Baauer and Flosstradamus are dropping the craziest beats you've ever heard on SoundCloud. You show your friends in the car and become an aux legend. Life is good.

SoundCloud became the music industry's biggest disruptor after its inception in 2007, when bedroom producers could scrap together a few 808s and blow up overnight. But the streaming service's rampant DMCA strikes and broken business model drove artists away like bad breath as it fell from grace, leading to incessant platform reformation and corporate restructuring as its owners chased profitability.

The magic that once fueled endless late-night SoundCloud rabbit holes scouring for the next undiscovered gem had seemingly vanished, but 2024 marks a new frontier for digital crate-digging as the platform furiously reemerges as a seedbed of electronic music discovery. The proof is in the puddling—SoundCloud is currently up for sale with a $1 billion price tag.

Roughly 40 million artists have released over 320 million tracks on SoundCloud to-date. Read on to discover 10 you should keep an eye on this year.
